trouble detaching cells

Closed Credit reward to answer the question: 0 - Question raised on 2010-06-25 01:35
My Sf9 cells are so firmly adherent that the notion of gently smacking the flasks to loosen them (as is suggested) is quite inadequate. Shocking them at 4C seems to have some effect, but its hard to tell how much it harms them. EDTA does not seem to work well. I've read that trypsin is not recommended (don't know why). Any ideas?
