"Native" or "non-denaturing" gel electrophoresis is run in the absence of SDS. While in SDS-PAGE the electrophoretic mobility of proteins depends primarily on their molecular mass, in native PAGE the mobility depends on both the protein's charge and its hydrodynamic size.

Does anyone have the protocol for native IEF and native 2D gel electrophoresis to isolate proteins with their ligands.

Necesito correr muestras de proteina nativa en gel de poliacrilamida, las muestras son de un molusco (Atrina maura), pero al parecer las bandas en el gel aparecen muy difusas. La muestra la estoy tratando con TRis-HCl ph 7.5 y la centrifugo varias veces, para que la muestra esté mas limpia. Pero no he conseguido eso, no hay una buena definicion de las bandas... Que puedo hacer?? Como puedo tratar la muestra sin desnaturalizar las proteinas??

what kind of information can get from using denaturing gel instead of native gel?

You can not use mercaptoethanol in sample buffer of native gels because it is a reducing agent an by boiling can break the disulphid bands.

native page markers are supplied by many companies and mostly used are from sigma. sigme provides a set of five proteins that are used as markers
