293 cells in serum-free medium?

Does anybody know if 293 cells (Human Embryonic Kidney) tolerate
serum-free or reduced serum culture medium, and for how long? I'm hoping
to purify a protein secreted from a stable 293 line, and the less serum I
can get away with, the easier it will be.
