Phosphatase inhibitors cocktails selection guide

Phosphatase inhibitors cocktails selection guide

Selection guide for phosphatase inhibitors cocktails (Merck).

Phosphatase inhibitor cocktails is used to prevent dephosphorylation of proteins in protein biochemistry applications. Commonly used protein phosphatase inhibitors protect dephosphorylation of serine, threonine, or tyrosine residues during sample preparation.

Common protein phosphatases:

- Alkaline Phosphatases
- Acid Phosphatases
- Ser/Thr phosphatases (PP1 and PP2A)
- Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases (PTPs)

The phosphate group is removed by the action of protein phosphatases, that restore the protein to its original dephosphorylated state. During the extraction of phosphorylated proteins from cell and tissue lysates, it is highly critical that the phosphorylation state of the proteins be preserved.
