Ascites in Rabbits?
I have developed a rabbit-rabbit (rabbit plasmacytoma cell line fused
with rabbit splenocytes) monoclonal antibody and wanted to know if you
can produce ascites in rabbits practically?
I know ascites production is routintely done in mice, but has anyone
heard of it done in rabbits? If so ... ...

Yes, of course. That is possible if you have fused two cell lines from the same strain and you inject cells
in a rabbit of that strain. Otherwise you had to use an immunosupresed rabbit. But ascites production is forbiden inn many countries. There are other alternatives as in vitro culture. In that way you can obtain as concentrations as in ascites fluid and less contaminated with animal's Igs. ¿Could I have a sample of youir plasmacytoma cell line? Rating: Very Good
